+ Notes | Hygge in the Birth

A few years ago when I was first introduced to the Danish concept of Hygge, I absolutely fell in love. Hygge is all about cultivating togetherness within a space where you feel cozy and loved. For me this is found in an abundance of wool socks, candles, and random knitting projects in baskets with a good book or going deep in a conversation with a close friend. Creating moments and spaces to allow togetherness can be however simple or elaborate you desire.

Some families even bring small elements of hygge into their labor and newborn times with meditation bowls, baskets of snacks, and a fuzzy blanket. These items bring the mind back to peace and unity when moments uneasiness come and parents and children need to re-center together.

A few things I have seen families have in their birthing kit.
